D 9550 Guidelines for the GSE Hosts
Families will contribute much to the comfort and convenience of their guest if they
enquire promptly on arrival of the guest, about laundry, dry cleaning, and other
personal requirements. Please allow ample time and opportunity for the conduct of
these special services. The hosting of a guest implies supplying breakfast and any
other unscheduled meals. Ask the guests about their breakfast habits.
Hosts should recognise that members of the team are successful and well established
business or professional persons.
Hosts should try and operate their homes in as near to normal manner as possible. The
team wants to learn about our normal family life.
Hosts are requested not to make demands on their guests that will put them is a
situation where conflict with the Official Itinerary occurs. In other words, please
consult with the Itinerary before making plans for other outings/activities etc. In all
cases, the Itinerary takes precedence over everything else.
It would be appreciated if hosts could explain the rules for use of the phone to their
guests
Punctuality is essential for the smooth running of the program. Please ensure ample
time for your guests to be called for, or delivered in time for the first engagement of
the day.
FREE TIME IS VERY PRECIOUS. DON’T TRY TO DO TOO MUCH FOR YOUR
GUESTS. GIVE THEM A CHOICE AND CONSULT WITH THEM AS TO WHAT
THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO. THEY MAY JUST WISH TO CATCH UP ON
SLEEP!
Hosts should be prepared to discuss our social and economic problems. The exchange
of ideas is essential to the program and hosts should take the opportunity to learn
something of another part of the world.
Transport
Transportation is the responsibility of each of the clubs hosting our guests. Host clubs
are requested to appoint at least two members for standby transportation emergencies.
Enjoy
Thanks for your involvement in this Program. Enjoy the experience of being
involved in one of Rotary’s most popular R.I. Foundation’s programs – Group
Study Exchange.
